Solitaire

The classic card game for one: build the four suits from ace to king.

How to use: Tap a card, then tap where it should go. Tap the stock pile to draw, and double-tap a card to send it to the top.

How to play Solitaire

This is Klondike, the version of solitaire most people know. A 52-card deck is dealt into seven columns, with one card face up in each and the rest face down. The remaining 24 cards form the stock. Your goal is to move every card to the four foundation piles at the top, building each suit from ace up to king.

On the table you stack cards in descending order and alternating colours, for example a red seven on a black eight. You can move a single card or a whole run of face-up cards together. Only a king, or a run starting with a king, can go into an empty column. Turning over a face-down card by moving the card on top of it is how you reveal new options.

Tap a card to select it, then tap its destination. Tap the stock pile to draw, either one card or three depending on the Draw setting, and tap the circle to recycle the waste pile when the stock runs out. Double-tap a card to send it straight to a foundation. Hint highlights a useful move, and Undo reverses as many moves as you like.

Some deals cannot be won, so do not be discouraged by a stuck game. As a rule, expose face-down cards first, keep your columns balanced, and avoid moving aces and twos out of play too eagerly if they would be useful building blocks.

Frequently asked questions

Can every deal be won?

No. Some Klondike deals are impossible no matter how you play. Use Undo to experiment, or start a new deal.

What is the difference between drawing one or three cards?

Drawing one is easier and wins more often. Drawing three shows less of the waste pile at a time and makes the game much harder.

How do I move several cards at once?

Tap the highest face-up card of the run you want to move, then tap the column it should go on.
