WebP Converter

Turn JPG and PNG images into lightweight WebP files for faster pages.

How to use: Choose your JPG or PNG images and download smaller WebP versions.

How to use the WebP Converter

WebP is an image format developed by Google that produces noticeably smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar visual quality. Typical savings are 25 to 35 percent compared with JPG, and WebP can also store transparency and animation, which makes it a flexible replacement for both older formats.

Drop your JPG or PNG files into the box. They are converted straight away to WebP at the quality you select, with 75 to 85 percent being a good starting point for photos. Each result shows its dimensions and the before and after size so you can see your saving, and you can download files one by one. The tool accepts up to 30 images at a time.

Smaller images mean faster page loads, which improves user experience and can help search rankings, especially on mobile connections. Use WebP for photos, banners and thumbnails on your website, and keep the original JPG or PNG as a master copy.

All modern browsers can display WebP, so it is safe for almost every site today. A few older programs and some email clients cannot open it, in which case you can convert back using the target menu. Conversion is performed locally with the canvas element, so your images are never uploaded. If your browser cannot create WebP files, the tool will let you know.
