Image Upscaler
Make small images bigger and crisper with careful resampling and sharpening.
How to use: Choose an image, pick 2x, 3x or 4x and set the sharpening. Compare the result, then download it as PNG, JPG or WebP.
Honest note: this upscaler does not invent detail with a neural network. It uses high-quality multi-step resampling plus an unsharp mask, which gives clean, natural results without AI artefacts.
How to use the Image Upscaler
Small images look blurry when you stretch them, because the browser or editor has to guess the new pixels quickly. This tool enlarges images carefully, which is often all you need for a thumbnail, an old photo, an icon or a picture for a slide.
Choose an image and select 2x, 3x or 4x. Instead of stretching in one jump, the image is doubled in several high-quality steps, which keeps edges smoother and reduces jagged stair-steps. An unsharp mask is then applied: it gently increases contrast along edges so the enlarged picture looks crisper. Raise the sharpening for soft photos or lower it if you see bright halos around edges.
Download as PNG for the best quality and transparency, JPG for photos with a smaller file size, or WebP for the smallest files on the web. Very large results are limited to about 36 megapixels so your browser does not run out of memory.
To be clear about what this is: it is not a generative AI upscaler, so it cannot recreate details that were never in the photo, such as individual hairs or readable text from a blurry sign. The upside is that it never adds fake details either. Your images never leave your device.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an AI upscaler?
No. It uses high-quality resampling and sharpening, not a neural network, so it never invents details. It is listed with the AI tools because people search for it there.
Which scale should I choose?
2x gives the cleanest results. 4x works for small graphics and icons but photos will look soft.
Does it work with transparent PNGs?
Yes. Download as PNG or WebP to keep the transparency.
