Favicon Generator

Turn a letter, emoji or logo into favicon.ico and every PNG icon size a website needs.

How to use: Choose “Text or emoji” or “Image”, set colours and shape, check the previews, then download favicon.ico and the PNG set and paste the HTML code into your page.

How to use the Favicon Generator

A favicon is the small icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks, search results and on phone home screens. A complete set covers several sizes: a multi-size favicon.ico for older browsers, 16 and 32 pixel PNGs for tabs, a 180 pixel apple-touch-icon for iPhones and 192 and 512 pixel icons for Android and installable web apps.

For a quick, clean brand mark, choose “Text or emoji”, type one to three characters and pick a background and text colour. Rounded squares and circles look modern; the transparent option lets the icon sit on any tab colour. To use a logo instead, switch to “Image” and upload a square PNG or SVG. Tick “Fill” to crop a rectangular logo so it covers the whole icon.

The previews show every size at once, which is important: details that look fine at 512 pixels can turn to mush at 16. Bold letters and simple shapes work best.

Download favicon.ico and the PNG set, upload them to the root folder of your site, and paste the HTML snippet into the head of your pages. Everything is generated in your browser, so your logo is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need favicon.ico?

Modern browsers accept PNG icons, but a favicon.ico at the site root is still requested by some browsers and tools, so it is worth including.

What image works best?

A square, high-contrast logo or symbol with few details. Text logos usually need to be reduced to an initial.

Does the ICO contain several sizes?

Yes. It bundles 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions in one file.
