Word Frequency Counter

Find the most used words and phrases in any text, with counts and percentages.

How to use: Paste your text; the table of most frequent words updates as you type. Change the options to ignore common words or count phrases, then export to CSV.

How to use the Word Frequency Counter

Knowing which words you use most helps in many ways. Writers spot repetition, students check whether an essay stays on topic, SEO editors review keyword density, researchers explore interview transcripts and language learners build vocabulary lists from real texts.

Paste or type text and the table updates as you go. Each row shows a word, how many times it appears and its share of all counted words, with a bar for quick comparison. By default, very common function words such as the, and, of and is are ignored so the meaningful words rise to the top; untick the option to include them.

Switch to two- or three-word phrases to find recurring expressions such as “customer service” or “at the end of”. Phrases that start or end with a common word are skipped when stop words are ignored. Set a minimum word length to filter out short words, choose whether Apple and apple count separately, and optionally ignore numbers.

The counter understands accented letters and most alphabets, and treats contractions like don’t as one word. Export the full list as CSV to sort or chart it in a spreadsheet. Your text stays on your device.
