How to use the Emoji Picker

Emojis add tone and personality to messages, social posts, presentations and even code comments, but finding the right one on a computer keyboard can be slow. This picker puts about 1,300 popular emojis on one page with instant search.

Browse by category, from smileys and people to animals, food, activities, travel, objects, symbols and flags, or type in the search box. Search uses official Unicode names plus a few common nicknames, so “heart”, “laugh”, “party”, “rocket” and “flag” all work, and you can combine words such as “cat face”.

Tap or click an emoji to copy it to your clipboard; its name and Unicode code point appear underneath, which is handy for developers. Emojis you copy are remembered in the Recent tab on this device. To build a longer string, tick Collect, tap several emojis to add them to the text box, edit if you like, and press Copy all.

How an emoji looks depends on the fonts of the device that displays it, so the same emoji can look different on Android, iPhone and Windows. Very new emojis may show as a box on older systems. Everything works offline in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I paste the emoji?

After tapping an emoji it is on your clipboard. Paste with Ctrl+V on Windows, Cmd+V on Mac, or long-press and choose Paste on a phone.

Why do some emojis look like empty boxes?

Your device does not have a font that includes that emoji yet. Updating the operating system usually fixes it.

Are my recent emojis stored online?

No. They are saved only in your browser’s local storage.
