How to use the Coin Flip

Flipping a coin is the classic way to settle a two-way decision, from who kicks off a match to which film to watch. A physical coin is not always handy, and this virtual one is just as fair.

Press Flip the coin to get heads or tails. Each flip uses your browser’s cryptographic random generator, so the outcome is genuinely unpredictable and has an exactly equal chance of landing either way. Past results do not influence the next one: after five heads in a row, the next flip is still 50-50.

Need more than one? Enter a number and press the second button to flip up to 1,000 coins at once. You will see how many heads and tails came up and the first sixty results as H and T letters. The session tally adds up everything you have flipped on this page, which is a nice way to demonstrate the law of large numbers: the more flips you make, the closer the ratio gets to half and half, although the absolute difference can still grow.

Coin flips are handy for teaching probability, for settling friendly bets and for breaking ties. For choices with more than two options, use the random picker or decision wheel. No data is stored, and refreshing the page resets the tally.

Frequently asked questions

Is the coin fair?

Yes. Heads and tails each have a 50% chance, using a secure random source.

Does a streak make the other side more likely?

No. Each flip is independent, so earlier results never change the odds.

Can I flip many coins at once?

Yes, up to 1,000 at a time, with a summary of heads and tails.
