Community rules and moderation policy

The ViralScopeHub community is a friendly place to ask questions and talk about tools, games, tech and news. These rules keep it useful and safe for everyone, including younger visitors.

The rules

1. Be kind and civil. No harassment, insults, threats, hate speech or personal attacks.
2. Keep it safe for work. No sexual, violent, shocking or adult content, in text, links or images.
3. No spam or self-promotion. No ads, referral links, repeated posts or vote manipulation.
4. Stay on topic. Post in the community that fits. Use a clear, honest title.
5. Respect privacy and the law. No personal information about others, piracy, scams or illegal content.
6. Report, don’t retaliate. Use the Report button. Moderators review every report.

What is not allowed

• Sexual or adult content, nudity, or links to it.
• Hate speech, slurs, threats, bullying or encouraging self-harm.
• Graphic violence or shocking images.
• Spam, advertising, affiliate or referral links, SEO link building and repeated posts.
• Scams, malware, piracy, cheating services or anything illegal.
• Other people’s personal information (names with addresses, phone numbers, private photos).
• Impersonating other people, moderators or ViralScopeHub staff.

How moderation works

• Every post and comment has a Report button. Moderators review every report.
• If several members report the same post or comment, it is hidden automatically until a moderator has looked at it.
• An automatic filter blocks common profanity, slurs and spam phrases, limits links from brand-new accounts and slows down accounts that post too quickly.
• Moderators can remove posts and comments and suspend accounts that break the rules, with or without warning, depending on how serious it is.
• New communities are reviewed by a moderator before they go live. Image posts unlock once an account has some history.

Posting tips

• Use a clear title that says what you need, for example “PDF merger keeps page order wrong on iPhone”.
• Pick the right community and a flair if one fits.
• Vote up helpful posts and answers. Downvotes are for posts that don’t add to the discussion, not for opinions you disagree with.
• Formatting: **bold**, *italic*, `code`, > quote and - list. Links are added automatically and are marked as user-generated (nofollow).

Your account and your data

• You only need a username and a password. We don’t ask for an email address, so there is no email password reset: keep your password safe.
• Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes. Being logged in uses one essential, HttpOnly session cookie that lasts up to 30 days.
• Your posts, comments, username, karma and join date are public. Votes, saved posts and notifications are private.
• To prevent abuse we keep a one-way hash of your IP address with your posts and for rate limits. We never store your IP address in readable form.
• Uploaded images are resized and re-encoded in your browser before upload, which also removes hidden photo data such as GPS location.
• You can delete your own posts and comments at any time. To have your account removed, use the contact page.
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Content is written by members and does not represent ViralScopeHub. See also the privacy policy and terms of use.
